Job Cuts: (employment opportunity) Are You Next?

In the past five years, there have been more job cuts than there has ever been before. It is scary to see how many there have been and how it is getting worse every single month. People are losing their homes, cars, boats, and everything else they own, or they have to sell their things just to pay their bills so they can get by until they can find another job. They took 159,000 jobs off the payroll just in September this year. This was bigger than the job cuts in March of 2003, and it has gotten much worse since then. Just think of how bad it is going to get by the end of this year or next year. It is hard to think of but it can happen and we have to prepare for this to happen.
Did you know that 760,000 jobs had to be let go just this year? Just think of all those people out of work. It makes you sick to think of how the economy is getting and of all those people who have no jobs. The economy is going down. More and more jobs are being let go because they have to be cut and because they could not keep them on the payroll. They say we need to understand that all that is going on in the economy will be repaired and restored to how it was with time, but they need to understand that we have to have money to live on and that we can’t live like this. They need to get their acts straightened up to get it fixed or the economy will fall and fall hard.
In August there were 73,000 jobs that were cut, and in July there were 67,000 jobs gone. These occurred in just a couple of months’ time, and you can see how bad it is getting out there. If things don’t get better, there might only be a few jobs out there left or none that are hiring at all. People are getting worried because their jobs can be next in line to be cut. Jobs can slow down, and then you know it is coming. Sometimes, you will have an order so high and then it will drop, meaning it is gone and you don’t even know it. It can be because the company went out of business or that particular item that is being manufactured went out without you knowing.

Is There A Solution To Illegal Immigration?

Do you remember all the fuss that was going on in this country about immigration and all the problems that went along with it? Until this time, did you even realize how many people were in this country illegally? A lot of people knew of some cases where there were a lot of people brought into this country. One place that comes to mind is my hometown in Dakota City, Nebraska. The plant was Iowa Beef Processors, and it is still running and still hiring these workers. I applied and didn’t get the job. I was told at the time that they were not hiring, but while I was there they took some of these people to give them drug tests and their name badges.
Our Federal Immigration Enforcement agency had been running a 10-month long raid that brought the arrest of over 300 workers in one South Carolina plant. On top of these arrests, charges have been brought up on 11 supervisors and one Human Resources manager for falsifying employment records in regards to these workers.
All of the ones that were arrested were interviewed, fingerprinted, and photographed before they could be sent to the deportation stations. In late August, this company did a raid on a plant in Laurel, Mississippi where they arrested 595 illegal people at this one plant. They did the same in California in a four-month nationwide crackdown of 53 cities from June 1 to September 30 that included 28 states. 430 crackdowns were made in California alone. This was the most of any state and included 168 in San Angeles, 96 in San Bernardino, and 81 in San Diego. Raids on gang members of 1700 did most of these.
Since 2005, 11,100 have been arrested. Of those arrested, 3,997 have been criminally charged with 7,109 charged with immigration violations and were processed for deportation. It costs us 6,000 dollars per person to deport them home, and many will come back. Every week federal enforcement officers fly 127 that are caught in Ohio and Michigan to a small town in Texas to be sent across the boarder. Last year, they deported 900 from Ohio with it being 3,300 so far this year. I think that if we take away the need for these workers, it will slow down this trend. If we caught them and they have been here for a while, then I think that we should give them the option of signing papers for citizenship with the understanding that they will have to pay their taxes for all the time that they have lived in this country. If we did this, it would stop the want in their hearts.

Applying for a Job? Be Aware of the Employment Background Check

More and more these days, employers of all types are conducting background checks on potential employees. But it’s not the criminal background checks that job seekers should be worried about so much as the employment background checks.
Constraints of Background Checks by Employers
Many companies don’t do criminal background checks unless they are in law enforcement. And believe it or not, it is actually illegal for an employer to ask a candidate whether or not they have ever been arrested. However, they are allowed to ask if you have ever been convicted of a specific crime if it is related to the job you are applying for.
A good example would be if you are applying to be a janitor at a grade school. Such a school obviously would not want a pedophile working there, and so they might ask you if you’ve ever been convicted of child abuse. Likewise, retail stores hiring product stockers might ask if you’ve ever been convicted of shoplifting.
However, questions about convictions that are unrelated are generally not allowed. As a candidate that does have a criminal background, you would do well to study the company you are applying at and consider ahead of time whether your convictions are even remotely related to the job. If so, be prepared to answer questions about it. If not, then be prepared respond appropriately for a question that is illegal.
Employment Background Checks
The employment background check is far more common with employers both because of its ease as well as the belief that past performance is the strongest indicator of a candidate’s future performance.
This type of background usually consists of an employer calling the previous employers you have listed. If you have left any employers on bad terms and are concerned about what they might say about your performance there, then listing them might not be the best idea even if the experience you gained there would help you get the job.
The most common flag that appears in employment background checks is that the candidate never even worked where he or she claims to have worked. This will typically result in immediate rejection in your consideration for the job.
The employment background check is virtually universal these days because of how easy it is to catch a candidate in a lie about their history. Employers simply call the past employers listed and confirm that you actually worked there.
Discovering that you have been dishonest is not a good way to start off a relationship with a potential future employer, thus making it very important that you are always honest about your employment history.
