I have seen in recent years that the number of laws coming from European Directives has fundamentally changed employment law for a solicitor in London and for workers and employers. What makes employment law so different from other areas of law is that it is something that affects most people at some time. It is also the area of law that is probably the most complex and the most frequently changing type of law. Consider for example three important areas of employment law: the Working Time Directive, rest breaks and paid annual Leave. These three areas alone affect every single one of us and employment lawyers in London represent three sectors: the employee, the employer and trade unions.

The first issue; the Working Time Directive is one of the most contentious issues facing our government. It is also one of the most contentious and pernicious issues facing workers, particularly those on part-time contracts. That is why you need the protection of a good employment law solicitor in London. Under this legislation an employer cannot compel employees to work more than 48 hours per week over a 17 week period. That is unless the worker has agreed to do so in writing.

Related to the Working Time Directive is the issue of compulsory rest breaks which all adult workers are entitled to. This means at least 20 minutes uninterrupted rest for every 6 hours of working time. Employment law solicitors in London are inundated with cases each year by companies defending their right to make businesses competitive against these provisions. Only with the knowledge of employment solicitors in London can companies and individuals work through the constant sea of regulations that are part of our highly integrated business life.

Finally, paid annual leave is something that all workers should be entitled to. As from April 2009 all workers are entitled to 28 days paid leave annually (up from the previous 20 days). Again, we as employment lawyers in London welcome this law and try to take on all parties views when the law is considered. In considering these three issues for example we as London employment law solicitors consider employers facing problems at work, employees wanting to keep on the right side of employment law, as well as trade unions looking for legal services which will help their members and themselves.

This small town welcomed the arrival of this bright young lady when she first came in 1984, and back then, she was already so focused on becoming a world class runner and get the chance to be one of the athletes in the prestigious Olympic Games. Within just four years, her greenish brown eyes have seen everything. Back in the year 1988, she joined in the Olympics held in Seoul, Korea and finished sixth place. Last December, the world class runner graduated from the local school. Only 23, she is already hailed as the next queen of American middle distance running and this led her to bag a three year deal to endorse a well known shoe brand.

This young girl from Delaware chose to stay where she is for the moment. She beholds the environs of the campus while doing her workouts. Standing at 5 foot 6, and weighing 110 pounds, this young athlete flies to her own finish line without her feet touching the ground that she runs on. She is always awkward with her newfound fame especially when people ask for her autograph. This down to earth lady shares that she is bothered when people treat her any other way since she believes that she’s just another average girl.

Though she can come off as normal, she certainly is far from average. She is the first Olympian in her town. She holds four prestigious U.S. collegiate records along with being a great member of seven world record relay groups. Because of her athletic leadership, their school took home 14 championship titles in the Big East finals as well as 8 individual NCAA championship honors. She has also driven herself to achieve a lot of the bigger honors.

Now that she has surpassed collegiate competition, along with their school track coach, she is carefully assessing how to go about with her running career. With this big change in her life, she knows that she has to make some mental adjustments. The only way for people to truly understand it is if they’ve been through it. The pressure she feels to be a successful runner are mostly placed on her by her own self. One qualm she has is sustaining any injuries while being bound by the three year contract she has with the famous shoe manufacturing firm. Thanks to more eyes being on her and counting on her a lot these days, she’s begun to feel the apprehension that she’s never felt before.

Many people wonder how the local women’s track team can manage without her. She guarantees that they can for their one great team. The notoriety, the pressures, and responsibilities make her value her privacy. Her family, especially her parent, brother and sister had to cope with being known as her parents, brother and sister even by strangers. Thanks to her parents being laid back, they were more of encouraging rather than pushy.

One positive side to stardom is the company she keeps. Her friends are no other than the greatest and the brightest athletes that we all could only watch on television. With these individuals with whom she shares a common link, she has genuine affection so whenever she name drops, it is not with a trace of pretention. A good instance would be was that she said that the last time that she had seen a colleague was during the last Olympics where they competed together, when asked more about the other runner she was on tour with in Hawaii. She was happy being with him for those days and talk about their Olympics experiences and just have fun.

While she admits that she’s got more time than she wants to have, she still hasn’t run out of stuff to do. Apart from her daily practices, she also takes advantage of being a public figure by organizing her comings and goings to certain parties, interviews, features, track meets and photo sessions. Proving that she is generous with her time and talent, she will also be a volunteer at the local school’s track team as assistant coach to help them emulate her success

She also wishes that she can volunteer in one of their local hospitals in honor of the medical career she has placed in the back burner. Indeed, being a volunteer there can truly assist this former psychology and premed major in knowing whether to continue with medicine when she is finished with professional running. Has she thought about her immediate future? She avers that even if she really wants to have a great family, this will have to wait after she has become a successful and established athlete. She shares that before anything else, she wants to attain her goals and wants first.

Its not so long ago that background investigations were associated only with jobs that required a weapon or presented financial temptation, or for positions related to national security. Whether the times are less innocent or the public is better educated to the risks, there is a general acceptance — and moreover expectation — of background checking as a necessary precaution. This is particularly so in service sectors that care for the most vulnerable members of society, most especially children.

In her June 10, 2010 coverage of the Albany County (Wyoming) School District board meeting for the Laramie Boomerang, Eve Newman reported a policy under consideration. With the intent of protecting students while not burdening school personnel with too much additional paperwork, The tentative policy proposes sex offence and criminal history checks of potential public school volunteers who seek to have prolonged or repeated interaction, or participate in any off-campus activity that would have them be alone with students. The districts assistant superintendent for personnel is quoted as saying the only reason were doing it is to protect our children, implying that the school district might have anticipated some resistance to expanding background screening to this population, yet readers comments on the online article showed only surprise that such a policy was not already in place. “It is hard to believe that in this day and age, there have not been background checks on ALL those school district employees working with children, wrote a reader signed Hard to Believe. Similar sentiments were expressed by other readers, some of whom described themselves as active in child-related organizations that have already implemented such policies. These are our children we are talking about, said Lori, the owner of a child care facility, and it is our job to keep them safe.

New York Senator Chuck Schumer agrees. Senator Schumer is looking beyond the teachers, bus drivers, etc. covered by most States to those who provide instruction in the arts, coaching, and childrens entertainment. These positions, he observes, whether paid or voluntary, put dangerous sexual predators in immediate proximity to kids and gives these predators positions of authority while interacting with kids. That is a combination just looking for trouble. On June 20, Schumer proposed a national measure to require sex offender checks for those who hold such positions, whether in organizations that receive public funding or in the private sector. The fact that these convicted sex offenders are able to coach our childrens teams, operate rides at fairs, and teach them dance and music is beyond scary and we must take immediate action to stop it, Schumer said; my hope is that my new legislation closes this huge loophole so no children are put into harms way.

Another loophole is being closed by the New Jersey State Senate Education Committee. As reported by SchoolBusFleet.com, on June 21, by vote of 4-0, the committee approved legislation to extend required background investigations for public school bus drivers to include other bus drivers for whom such checks are currently optional. Under the new law, passed by a vote of 4-0, drivers employed by nonpublic schools, or by companies holding a contract with agencies such as the Department of Human Services, the Department of Children and Families, and the Department of Law and Public Safety, would now be required to undergo a criminal history check. Conducted by the state Department of Education, the mandated check includes input from the Division of State Police and the FBI and also requires the comparison of data files on a regular basis to assist in identifying school bus drivers who have had their special license S endorsement revoked or suspended but who are still employed as school bus drivers.

Expressing the popular consensus, Boomerang reader CM wrote, I think anytime that you have a situation where children are involved there should be background checks done. Increasingly, as these recent examples show, legislation is coming to reflect this. When the care of children is concerned, background investigations are no longer an extraordinary practice, but a standard protection that the general public has come to expect.

Within four short years, her greenish brown eyes were able to capture everything. She was able to attain sixth place in the Seoul Korea Olympics held in 1988 for the women’s 3,000 meter run. And last December, this world class runner finally graduated from school. With her achievements and only at 23, this princess of American middle distance running also got herself a 3 year contract to endorse a popular shoe company.

But then she chose to remain here right in Delaware for now. She beholds the environs of the campus while doing her workouts. As the young 110 pound runner that stands 5 foot six runs, her feet barely get in contact with the ground. She gets fidgety with fame especially when people ask for her autograph. She gets bothered with special treatment for she is a humble lady who believes that she is just another average person.

While she is a normal person, she is definitely not an average girl. In their hometown, she was the first to ever compete in the Olympics. She has already seized four American collegiate records and above that, she is one of the great members of not just six but seven world record relay teams. At school, she led her team, capturing eight individual NCAA championship titles and 14 Big East championship titles. She has also brought home the major awards and trophies.

Now being able to put collegiate competition behind her, she and her track coach in school carefully begin assessing her running career. She knows that this big change calls for equally big mental adjustments. People do not understand this if they have not gone through such experiences. There is so much pressure driving her to become a great runner but most of this comes from her own self. Being under the three year contract with the famous shoe company, her greatest fear would be sustaining any forms of injuries. She’s become more apprehensive now than during the competitions she’s been in the past for there are greater expectations from her.

Without her, people wonder how the local women’s track team can go on. Of course they can, they’re a great team, she said. The things that make her value her privacy are the notoriety, pressure and responsibilities. Even her small family had to make some much needed adjustments and cope with the fact that they are now known as her parents and as her sister and brother. Though her parents were supportive, they were never pushy for they were also laid back.

Her stardom allows her to gain access to the exceptional company she keeps. The elite groups of athletes we look up to and watch on TV are her friends. While she does name drop, this is without any hints of pretention since she has nothing but true affection and concern for these great people that share with her a common link. For instance, as she came back this June from Hawaii after going on tour with another runner, she shares that the last time she saw him was during the Olympic Games. It was cool to be with him for three days, talk about how they were then and just have some good clean fun.

While she shares that she’s got so much time, her list of stuff to do hasn’t shrunk one bit. Beyond her daily practices, she also finds herself busy as a public icon, getting involved in various track meets, banquets, photo sessions, features and other similar activities. On top of it all, this generous lady will share her time and abilities by being a volunteer assistant coach at their local school.

She also wants to become one of the volunteers in an area hospital so that she can be able to keep up with the medical aspirations she has presently put on hold. That can truly aid this former psychology and premed major make a wise decision on whether to continue with medicine or not when it’s her time to bow off the professional running course. Has she thought about her future? She foresees marriage and children, but said they will have to wait until her running career is established. She says that she will achieve her goals and wants first before these other things in life.

Everyday Routine Can Bore Doctors

By Erasmo Arthurs

A doctor decides to swap his medical practice for a corporate office. His practice, though thriving, was too boring to suit him. He felt like all he was anymore was a doctor who listened and occasionally talked. The high cost of malpractice coverage forced his group of associated physicians to cease offering particular services such as obstetrics, surgery and treating complicated medical issues. His practice had turned into little more than a stopping point for the patient ultimately destined for a specialist.

This physician has since entered the corporate world as a medical development director of a large pharmaceutical manufacturer. Many bored physicians have found their desired challenge in the corporate world and more are following this example. The physicians who have become affiliated with corporations are fatigued by the trials of private practice, the prevalence of governmental and insurance-related meddling in medical matters, the political atmosphere in academia and the necessity of drumming up research money. There is one city that is eager to improve employee health and the safety of their products which is quick to hire such disenchanted doctors. While many doctors stay involved in the medical world with drug research or occupational health, the corporate world seems to have more to offer many of them than the medical world.

The compensation offered by the municipality can rival that of private practice. Some of the perks to being a corporate doctor include a 9 to 5 work schedule, travel, malpractice insurance paid by the company, time off given for studies or teaching, and a complete benefit package that’s quite competitive with private practice income.

Still, corporate physicians make up less than two percent of the entire physician population in the United States. Thousands of occupational medicine physicians are in charge of not only employee health but also industrial and product safety. This is not to say that all doctors involved in the corporate world work full time, there are over 10,000 doctors working part time in these types of roles. Insurance company medical underwriters, insurance company claim consultants and the pharmaceutical field employ thousands more doctors who have tired of private practice.

The evolving career of a certain chief medical director for a huge insurance company is a similar story for many corporate doctors. One doctor, already working in a private practice, took a job as occupational physician for a restaurant chain in order to make some extra money. What he didn’t realize is how hard he would work during this part time job, performing exams on food handlers at a rate of up to 60 patients in an hour! Later on, he became a medical director for several film studios and, with hesitance, he surrendered his medical practice. He found with the medical director job, he could do much more with the patient care because they weren’t worried about making the payment.

Many private physicians see themselves as automatons faced with ever-increasing obstacles in their quest for a viable business. They were seen as no better than a school nurse for a company. However, due to the change in laws, as well as attitudes, concerning occupational and product safety, corporate physicians have gains a greater respectability and involvement. The director of medicine at a large New York telecommunications firm states that achieving a new level of respect has been gratifying.

New physicians at the start of their careers can do really well in the corporate world. Older doctors can usually afford to sacrifice gross and net income for the benefits of corporate medicine. These corporate physicians stand behind their decision because the benefits that come along with the job are so much better than in private practice. Many of my peers, in the earlier years of private practice, considered occupational medicine a rather foolish choice for anyone to make. In one doctor’s opinion, many of those who did not make the switch are now envious of those who did.

Most of the corporate doctors who are pulling in the largest incomes are those who chose to give up their stethoscopes. One such example is a 78 year old multimillionaire physician who never actually practiced medicine. That doctor’s first million dollars, which he generated while he was still a medical student, was the direct result of the revival of his father’s laid up drug business. After his graduation from medical school he purchased a surplus army field hospital and set it up in Ural Mountain area of the famine stricken Soviet Union. It was there that he realized food, and not medicine, was what the people needed more than anything, so he brought grain to Russia and made those trade contacts the foundation of his lifelong career.

Despite being called a contract, an employment contract doesnt have to exist as a written document for up to two months after an employee starts working for an employer. Don’t contact your <a href=http://www.employmentlawhelp.co.uk">employment law solicitor if you have only been in a job for 2 months and have not got a written contract! However, the moment an agreement is struck between employer and employee and work commences, there is a contract in place and both parties have obligations and rights. Unlike a contract to provide services, an employment contract, whether it is in physical form or not, represents a mutual understanding of one-anothers rights and responsibilities under employment law and, for this reason, it is vitally important that both employers and employees understand their rights under employment law.

When an employee starts working for an employer, they accept the terms and conditions of an employment contract, to which they are bound until the contract ends or is changed. A change in the terms of an employment contract can be instigated by either the employer or the employee, though both must agree to the new terms. A common change in employment contracts requested by both parties, for example, is the application for an employee to work at home.

When working from home, employees have the same employment rights as those who work in a conventional environment. Furthermore, before an employee can be allowed to work at home, the employer must ensure that their employee will be safe in their workplace, which includes adequate training for all machinery, equipment, heavy loads and hazardous substances. Since employees who work from home often have practical jobs, this is especially important for employers to bear in mind when requesting that the employee work from home instead of their normal workplace.

Although employers can request that an employee considers working from home, employment law does not allow them to force an employee to do so against their will. Similarly, although employees can request to work from home, employers are not required by law to allow them to do so. Even in the case of employees with young or disabled children, employers are not required to let them work from home, or to give them paid leave to care for sick dependents.

However, if an employee has to take time off work for their own illness, they may be entitled to sick pay. Although employers are not required to pay any extra contractual or occupational sick pay, they are obliged to pay a minimum rate of statutory sick pay of 79.15 per week, on the condition that the employee is earning more than 97 per week and is ill for more than four days in a row. Subject to the same tax and national insurance contributions as regular payment, statutory sick pay lasts for around 28 weeks, after which an employee must claim Employment and Support Allowance, by filling in an SSP1 form. Employees cannot, however, be dismissed for being sick just as they cannot be dismissed for falling pregnant.

Even if she has not completed a single year of continuous employment with an employer, an employee cannot be fairly dismissed for falling pregnant. Instead, she is entitled to 26 weeks of standard maternity leave, an additional 26 weeks of extended leave and paid leave for ante-natal care, after which she has the right to return to work in a comparable position, under the same contractual conditions as when she left. With the exception of payment, she also has the right to the same contractual terms whilst on maternity leave as she had when at work.

All the above are important considerations to take into account when taking on new employees or new jobs. The employment rights of both employee and employer are in place whether there is a written contract or not; an understanding of these right is hence of paramount importance.

Today, employers use backdrop cheques as the major way of employment screening since there is no better way no doubt of who they are employing .

A setting cheque will let out the reprehensible and fiscal past of any individual and it maintains information on commercial records too such as marital status, date of birth, birthplace etcetera. Because peoples alter information , this is a very good way of verifying the particulars subjected by every likely employee.

Scope checks wont to be a verbose physical process. It asks having to fit at the local police headquarters or prisons to find out the deplorable past of a subject. It takes overmuch sentence likewise. Today however, it is easier to do a check on just anyone using the resources made available on the net .

Background bank checks are done by government bodies and also by private companies at a certain fee which is minimum enough to be opened by all. However, there are land sites that claim to offer such services free but most of them are not found oneself to be true to their books . Most of the free land sites do not have enough informations while so much more have nothing to offer in the least.

To do a scope records check , always look for a site that has a large database of info so as to be sure of getting effects for your search. Also try to know for sure, where such a land site is getting its info from. A good backdrop assay site should be getting its feed of info directly from the government bodies in burster of criminal records.

After affirming the believability of a backcloth records correspond situation, you can proceed with employment screening by supplying information such as the name of your subject areas too as their date of births. The more info you have on your study , the easier it is to narrow down to getting the perfect contingents. Names alone may not be sufficient since there are issues of co occurrence in names. Therefore, always get as much information as possible about your field of study before proceeding with the employment screening process of doing a scope check .

Paid backcloth bank checks rest the only reliable way of confirming the items you will get in the issue of a check. The details gotten from a paid background cheque is mostly dependable because its origin is always from the regime and you can be sure of getting info on every search.

My counsel : Don’t get scammed by false public records lookup directories. The only world records lookup site we have used and recommend is Authorities imaginations. Regime resourcefulnesses is a directory that is able to help you determine the details of the public records of anyone within instants right from the comfort of your domicile for as little as 19 + 3.33 VAT and they will give you 100 % refund of your money if you are not satisfied with their service. With companies being hit badly by the recession and rollbacks, it has become a difficult task to stick to a single job for a long period of time. In fact, the recent setback faced by the company led to a lot of people losing their jobs. Unemployment is debilitating to both individuals and the economy. The high cost of living and inflation can make it very difficult for people to meet their daily needs. This is why the demand for unemployment protection insurance has gone up tremendously. This is very safe and acts as a net to protect employers from financial bankruptcy.

Also called redundancy insurance, it is a popular insurance scheme that allows for the financial protection of the unemployed. It enables them to obtain money from the government till they find a stable source of employment, in order to manage their livelihood. This policy ensures that the holder is able to take care of his daily needs without having to resort to extreme troubles. The redundancy cover is usually for a limited period of time. This may range from a period of 6 12 months. The individual is required to find a source of income within this period of time. Redundancy insurance is seen as a fallback for the unemployed and not the main source of livelihood.

There are certain criteria that are to be fulfilled if one is to apply for unemployment insurance. These include the fact of unemployment, the reasons behind the unemployment and the duration of unemployment. Any individual who has been deprived of a job due to an economic downturn or serious illnesses can apply for unemployment protection insurance claim. But any unemployment caused due to misconduct, voluntary retirement or resignation is not eligible for insurance cover. However, it needs be noted that at least six months ought to pass before people can apply for the claim. Another important criterion is that the premiums for the redundancy cover have to be paid regularly. Any defaulted payment will lead to a loss in the privilege. This would render the policy holder ineligible for any payment of the insurance claim. The policyholder should also give evidence that they are seeking new employment opportunities voluntarily.

Unemployment protection insurance can also help in matters like mortgage payments and rental payments in the duration of unemployment. This will help the individuals maintain a clean credit record. There are many insurance companies that are available online and offline that provide these important services to people. One must apply for a redundancy cover while in employment, in order for it to be legally valid. These insurance premiums do not have very high rates and are very beneficial in the long run. It is definitely a very vital financial asset in these unpredictable times. It is advisable for interested people to use the internet to find out more about the various redundancy covers available and choose the one that is most suitable to their work and finances. After the life insurance, unemployment insurance is the most highly rated financial scheme by the middle class public.

Doing an Employment Background Check is one effective tool to ensure that the company has made the right employment choice. It covers beyond the applicants qualifications; it puts everything and everyone in the company safe physically and financially.

There are two major elements in performing employment background screening. These are the criminal record check and the credit record check. Included in the criminal background screening are information such as arrests, lawsuits and other problems related to the court system.

Whatever information the company may get during the criminal background check can be a decisive factor on his employment. For example, a record that the applicant mauled or attacked fellow employees seriously that a case was filed against him can cause hesitation on his employment.

On the other hand, credit record screening is especially helpful when the position to be filled in requires handling financial matters. However, this is not the only use of doing consumer report, the technical term for credit record. In all aspects of employment, having a clean credit record is attractive.

In most cases, criminal background check is free. On the web are sites that offer free criminal background check, which includes criminal court records, civil court records and sex offender information. Also included on employment background screening specifically in criminal check are records on felonies and misdemeanors.

To accomplish criminal background checking, simply fill in the information requested on the provided boxes on the web page of the free service provider. This information includes the potential employees first and last names and the State to which he lives.

To be more specific, there is an option of providing the birth date. In fact, this is helpful in narrowing down the results of background searches. Once the information is given, click on search and the web will produce results in a matter of seconds.

At most, a background search on credit record does not come free. It needs to be purchased from a credit union and sometimes, requires the approval of the employment candidate. The information obtained during this stage of employment background check forms the major part of the applicants credit history.

Employment background screening particularly the consumer report can also be done online. However, some information is limited to criminal activity in relation to credit matters. The steps are similar in doing free online criminal background check, except that this time, it requires legal notification, which is available at the bottom of the application.

From an employees perspective, employment background check guarantees safe working environment for people. For employers, background searches save them from any potential harm done to their properties, finances and work force.

Companies that offer services such as providing nannies can also perform nanny background check and at rare times, even require drug test as part of the employment background check. Other background investigations may involve inquiry from previous employers, relatives, neighbors and friends.

Anybody from the Human Resource department can do the employment background screening. Two steps serve as a good guide. The first is to gather the basic information such as the complete name, birthday information, telephone number and the address. The social security number, information on previous employment are good sources of information for background searches.

The second step is to confirm the applicants identity. Using the information gathered, contact the number or the address to verify the person. If this is not possible, Google is reliable source to confirm the information. If the steps are not possible, public records search can do the employment background check.

Harold Benjamin Solicitors; specialist employment lawyers in London, can be contacted for any of your queries of assistance needed about employment law in London.

Plenty of nice opportunities like jobs in nice places with good salaries can be yours if you’re a physician who happened to finish medical school in 1955. But there was one who wasn’t as lucky. Though he has a medical school diploma, he was unable to get a career with high stability and pay, but is very competitive instead.

Once seen as a golden profession, doctors have less autonomy and the once sacrosanct doctor patient relationship has been corrupted as managed care grabbed a stronger hold of the medical market. Now, medical students learn where they will have their residencies right as soon as they graduate. The day of matching can cause a celebration for those who shall work for the hospitals they like. For others, it can be a grim reality check of the job market that awaits them.

Some surveys reveal that too many physicians and medical schools abound. The American Medical Association journal reported recently in a study that more than 10 percent of physician residents who train in a medical specialty are unable to find jobs within some parts of the country which are related to their fields. A study funded by one company recommended the wholesale closing of US medical schools because of a physician surplus and said medical schools should admit 20 to 25 percent fewer students.

In Boston, one medical center that also teaches hospital matter for a university has released a statement that they will eliminate many jobs and doctors along with it. Back then when he just finished school, things were not this way, recounts a doctor who is now also dean of a celebrated medical school. He recalls that there were plenty of positions for those who wanted to specialize in a field of medicine. Since internal medicine, family practice and paediatrics which are known as the generalist fields have reported steady development since the early 1900s, a lot of the medical students have chosen to specialize in these for the past years.

Specialty fields of study and careers which include anaesthesiology, diagnostic radiology and psychiatry see a plunge as noted by the national resident matching program. For example, the number of students entering anesthesiology has dropped dramatically. One med student who will soon graduate said that he wanted to get into anaesthesiology but then feel short as he realized the scarce work opportunities available. He notes that there are just too many of them out there. But then, a female doctor who is also a member of the American medical association board counters that the report on having too many doctors may not be true as many rural towns like her own are in dire need of having more physicians cater to them.

She furthers that many among the crime de la crime do not venture into the medical profession thanks to the unfavorable things that they hear about the doomed medical profession, even if they do not know what the truth really is. Despite an uncertain situation, most young doctors hold on high hopes maybe spurred by the growth of popular medical themed TV shows that increase appreciation toward the medical field. Even if they no longer have the same autonomy they used to have or earn as much as they used to, she still claims that this is the greatest job in whole wide world.

Her greenish brown eyes saw through everything in just four short years. Back in 1988, she won sixth place during the Olympics in Seoul, Korea specifically in the 3,000 meter run. Finally last December, this world class athlete saw her graduation from this local school. As the princess of American middle distance running at a tender age of 23, this lady was easily able to scoop a nice deal with a shoe manufacturing company to endorse their brand for three years.

But for this young Delaware native, staying where she is right now is her priority. While doing her usual workouts, she goes around the environs of her campus. Against her own finish line, this 110 pound, 5 foot 6 runner’s feet could barely hit the ground. Whenever people would chase her for her autograph, she realizes that she is not so much into the idea of fame. She gets troubled when people give her special treatment being the self effacing young lady that she is who believes that she is just a normal person.

As normal as she is, she is certainly not average. She was the first lady to ever become an Olympian in their town. She has impressively obtained four US collegiate titles and more than that, she is a proud member of seven world record relay teams. At school, she was the one responsible for her team’s eight individual NCAA championship title wins and that’s not all for they were also able to bag 14 Big East championship titles. She has achieved honors even in major awards.

Going beyond the life of competing in collegiate sports events now, she and her running coach are already planning out her promising career in running. She realizes that with this huge change comes a ton of mental adjustments. Only people who have gone through such experiences can truly grasp this. She pressures her own self to be a great runner and this is why she feels a ton of pressure. She truly fears getting some injuries while she is still bound by the contract that will run for three years with the famous shoe firm. She’s become more anxious now than during the days that she competed in collegiate competitions thanks to a lot of people’s greater expectations from her.

A lot of people want to know how the local women’s track team would fare now that she’s gone. She assured people that this great team will still move forward. She truly holds her privacy dear with the pressure, notoriety and responsibilities all around her. Even within their home, her parents and siblings all had to adjust to the fact that they are now recognized to be related to her. Thanks to her parents being laid back, they were more of encouraging rather than pushy.

With her stardom comes the positive trait which is the company she keeps. The elite individuals in the sporting world just happen to be friends and these are the ones that we would just simply be happy to watch on television. She name drops, not pretentiously, but with genuine affection and concern for those with whom she shares this common link. For instance, as she came back this June from Hawaii after going on tour with another runner, she shares that the last time she saw him was during the Olympic Games. She was happy being with him for those days and talk about their Olympics experiences and just have fun.

While she shares that she’s got so much time, her list of stuff to do hasn’t shrunk one bit. Beyond her daily practices, she also finds herself busy as a public icon, getting involved in various track meets, banquets, photo sessions, features and other similar activities. Proving that she is generous with her time and talent, she will also be a volunteer at the local school’s track team as assistant coach to help them emulate her success

She also wishes that she can volunteer in one of their local hospitals in honor of the medical career she has placed in the back burner. That may help the former psychology and premed major decide whether to continue with medicine once she’s finished running professionally. How does she perceive her life in the near future? While she reveals that she would love to become a mother and wife that will only be after her successful career as a runner is established. She says she wants to reach her goals and do what she wants to do first.
